Four Food Safety Tips to Keep Your Kidney Healthy

Food is the necessity to live, but nowadays preferences for the food have changed. Now people get attracted towards more tempting and delicious food which is not always healthy for the body. The junk food gives us momentary pleasure and deadly diseases like kidney infection, food poisoning etc.

Healthy and homemade food is the only way to keep your kidney fit and healthy. But as humans learn from their mistakes, we do several mistakes while cooking but despite learning from that we make it a habit. Patients who are already fighting from kidney disease know that the nutritious diet is going to help them. They eat meat, seafood, eggs, and milk products to fight against kidney disease. But still few mistakes bring them closer to some critical kidney conditions.

Below are some food safety tips for people to keep their kidney healthy and prevent other diseases:
Cleanliness: The cleanliness of nutritious food is very important. Make sure that you buy fresh meat or seafood from a clean place. Wash your hands properly before you touch the meat. Wash it perfectly and use a clean sterilized knife to slice it. The serving plates and spoons also need to be clean and dry.

Separation tips: Store your veggies and fruits in a separate rack, and meat, eggs, and seafood in a separate rack. Try to store milk products such as cheese, milk, curd, and more also separate from these items. Kidney doctors in India also suggest storing the food properly and the place needs to be clean, dry, and moisture-free.

Cooking tips: Most of us believe in the experience-based cooking. We judge that food is properly cooked or not by its fragrance, color or time consumed. For such type of food, we need to have a food thermometer to ensure that the food is cooked at the right temperature. Food cooked at a safe temperature 165 degrees is safe for our kidney health and liver also.

Preserving food and left-overs: This is our habit to cook the food in bulk and eat it for the next one or two days. We can eat preserved food but only when the preservation is right. Do not leave the cooked or semi-cooked food out of the refrigerator for more than 2-3 hours. Let your preserved food come at a normal temperature before you reheat or eat it.
